Orange Creek
03:28
|
|||
Orange Creek ran dry, walkin down the railroad ties
Orange Creek ran deep, but that’s a song for yesterday
Orange Creek ran dry, walkin through its afterlife
Orange Creek can’t speak, ran dry
Then I hear the thunder, clouds are growin darker, the wind blows high.
And the air grows colder, and the smell of rain comes like a tide.
To a soul that is dry. Then like tears from my eyes…
The rain begins to fall.
Orange Creek runs high, singin in the warm sunshine.
Orange Creek it speaks, come and wash yourself away
Orange Creek baptize, strip away my pain lies
Orange Creek now deep, runs high
Water rushin over, weight rolls from my shoulders, I close my eyes.
Darkness takes me under, wanted to stay longer, but when I rise
It has brought new life to a soul that was dry
And now the old is washed away
Orange Creek at night, callin from the afterlife
Orange Creek it’s time, goodbye

Any Longer
03:31

Sometimes I feel like I can't go on any longer.
Sometimes I feel like I won't ever get any stronger.
But I know, if I hold on just a little bit longer
Yeah I'll grow, I'll grow just a little bit stronger
Just a little bit longer.
Sometimes I feel like I can't go on any farther.
Sometimes I feel like life just keeps getting harder.
But I know, if I hold on just a little bit longer
If I push, I push just little bit harder
That even though my heart it breaks, and my soul trembles and shakes
My love will always remain
The years go by and I won't wait any longer
But I know, if I hold on just a little bit longer
Yeah I'll grow, I'll grow just a little bit stronger
Just a little bit longer.

Disappear
03:32

I've felt so alone, breaking my own bones for years.
Days just rushing by, they've left all my time unclear.
I lie awake at night and fight to hold back all the tears.
And she cried oh no, don't you disappear.
Been a wreck inside, cause that's the place I hide my fears.
Reconcile my life, desperate to just get clear.
I lie awake at night and fail to hold back all the tears.
And she cried, oh no, don't you disappear.
And she says, oh no, don't you disappear.
Close my eyes so tight, oh God please break me out of here.
And she says, oh no, don't you disappear.
And she says, oh no, don't you disappear.
And she says, oh no, don't you disappear.
All these days gone by...

Rusty Strings

I grew up in a downtown diner where my momma worked every night.
Never saw my daddy too much, he could never seem to get it right.
I spent my nights with the rockin jukebox and all the songs my momma sang.
Found an old flattop in the back one night, it was a beat up greasy thing.
Momma said, “Son while you’re sittin round here, oughtta learn to play and sing”
so I started picking out those jukebox song on those rusty guitar strings.
Daddy played the lottery, you know he never won a thing.
Momma played the jukebox, Johnny, Willie and the king.
I played that old flattop boy I loved to hear her sing.
Momma played the jukebox and I played those rusty strings.
‘Fore too long I knew those songs, I could play near everything
From the rockin jukebox on the old flattop, all those songs my momma sang
As I got a little older, played the VFW for the soldiers Fridy nights
Had a local DJ come to hear me play, said, “that boy is outta sight!”
Momma said “Son, they’ll be screaming your name, gonna be the next big thing” so,
As I stand up here in the stage and lights I can still hear her sing
With the old jukebox, late at night, as I play those rusty strings.
Momma played the jukebox and I played those rusty strings.
Momma plays the jukebox and I play these rusty strings.

Tornado

When she’s mad, she’s like a wild tornado, out across the open plain.
She’s got a temper like a risin river, under a Carolina rain
She’s a fire burnin through the prairie when the skies have run dry
She’s a thunderstorm up in the mountain, a ragin fire in the sky
Whatever mood she’s in, I’ve come to understand
When she’s mad, she’s like a wild tornado, out across the open plain.
She’s got a temper like a risin river, under a Carolina rain
When she loves, her heart is like a rainbow, stretchin out the desert skies
Her arms will warm you like your granny’s blanket on a cold winter’s night
Her smile is like a big ol shade tree on a hot summer’s afternoon
Her eyes sparkle dancing all around me like the Milky Way in Boone
Whatever mood she’s in, I’ve come to understand
When she’s mad, she’s like a wild tornado, out across the open plain.
She’s got a temper like a risin river, under a Carolina rain
When she’s mad, she’s like a wild tornado, out across the open plain.
She’s got a temper like a risin river, under a Carolina rain
